I'd like to try these myself—sans the champagne and porter. I just need to get an ice-cream maker first. More recipes from We All Scream.

If many of my instagram photos and tweets recently revolve around food, it's because I've been obsessing over (alternative-food?) recipes.
It started ever since my older sister was tested for Food Intolerance. We all get the same reaction after reading the test results—for us or for others—wondering what's left to eat when you can't consume the most common ingredients: dairy, wheat, eggs, yeast, gluten, etc.

Eating out becomes a challenge—you can't control what goes in the food you're ordering. So you're left to buy and cook your own food, since you can monitor the ingredients.
I've been experimenting with cooking and baking, with the former being more successful than the latter. I've yet to try things like Tofu omelette, and Wheat-Egg-Dairy-Gluten-Yeast-free pancakes.

I thought getting this book would solve my lack of baked goods, but it's never that easy. The first baking trial of Blondies ended up dry (but not Biscotti dry) and smelling like dough. To be fair, the author stated she prefers certain ingredient brands over others, so we probably didn't have ingredients stellar enough to make a successful batch.

Seeing this on Scout's Honor Co. blog made me miss those days when we used to write letters to our cousins. We used to draw on the stationary (envelopes especially) whatever we were into at the time - mostly video games and comics characters.
This would be the grown-up version of those letters: a stamp which will turn plain envelopes into personalized stationary.

I think I was also inclined to blog about this since the photos feature stamps of Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch, when I just posted about To Kill a Mockingbird not too long ago. I suppose it's a nod to their name, Scout's Honor Co.

Sometime back in May, I was listening to an episode from Stuff You Missed in History Class entitled 'A Pure Food Father and His Poison Squad'. It talked about Harvey Wiley in late 1800s and his experiments with food additives which were likely to be toxic. The healthy men who volunteered to ingest poisons in their food were dubbed the 'Poison Squad' by the press.
Interesting topic aside, I tweeted to the podcast hosts that "Harvey Wiley and the Poison Squad" sounds almost like a band name, to which they agreed.
I mostly forgot about it until Harvey Wiley was mentioned again in a recent episode from NPR: Your Health. I began doodling logos and emblems, imagining what sort of identity the Poison Squad would have.

Digital, print or audiobooks? Which do you prefer and why?

Print for fiction/non-fiction and things like art or design books. But I buy less of these because I have piles upon piles of unread books.
Audiobooks are pricey compared to print and digital, so I'm more selective about what I get. With fiction, it's mostly classics and books I feel like I missed out on. It goes without saying the reader's voice tips the buying decision scale.
Digital for reference books, and if available, art/design books.

Good, fast and cheap

A few friends seem to be frustrated lately with local service provides. If they manage to dodge expensive quotes, they're stuck with contractors who never seem to make any progress at all.
And while they managed to find someone who promised to design their business' website quickly and inexpensively, they were rather unsatisfied with the end result. After endless revisions, they managed to launch their website a few weeks behind schedule.

It reminded me of something I came across a few years ago involving a triangle and the relationship between Quality, Price, and Time. I looked it up and found the project triangle.
The idea is as follows: with any project, you can only pick two out of three items. So you have the following three options:

Price + Time/Quality or Fast, cheap and bad
If you've managed to find someone to work fast and cheap, chances are the quality of the work will be shabby and will fall apart in no time.
Eventually, you'll have to pay more for repairs, maintenance or re-design.

Time + Quality/Price or Fast, good and expensive
It has to be spectacular and it should be ready by tomorrow. No problem. As long as you don't mind paying extra to have done and delivered.
Being pressed for time means you haven't a spare hour to look for a better deal. Not to mention possibly covering rush job fees.

Quality + Price/Time or Good, cheap and slow
It takes time to find the lowest bidder for high-quality work done on a budget.
Even if someone agrees to deliver excellent work inexpensively, they are likely to prioritize the higher paying jobs. Or it might require them time to search for ideas without sacrificing the quality or stretching the budget.
