The House of Mirth: Book Jacket

Since she had read The Age of Innocence, I have been wanting to get my sister a copy of The House of Mirth.
And since I was to make a gift of it, I wanted to find her the best edition available: one with not only an attractive cover, but crisp, sharp text that's easy on the eyes.
I found one that had the latter, but wasn't too happy with the cover.
So over the weekend, I designed and printed a book jacket.

The House of Mirth is written in the style of a novel of manners and in the first few chapters, several names pop-up in conversations and events. This makes it hard for the first time reader to keep track of characters names, their backgrounds and their relationship to each other. To solve this issue, I placed brief characters' profiles on the book jacket's inner flaps for instant access and easy reference.

We all Scream illustrated ice-cream recipes

I'd like to try these myself—sans the champagne and porter. I just need to get an ice-cream maker first. More recipes from We All Scream.

If many of my instagram photos and tweets recently revolve around food, it's because I've been obsessing over (alternative-food?) recipes.
It started ever since my older sister was tested for Food Intolerance. We all get the same reaction after reading the test results—for us or for others—wondering what's left to eat when you can't consume the most common ingredients: dairy, wheat, eggs, yeast, gluten, etc.

Eating out becomes a challenge—you can't control what goes in the food you're ordering. So you're left to buy and cook your own food, since you can monitor the ingredients.
I've been experimenting with cooking and baking, with the former being more successful than the latter. I've yet to try things like Tofu omelette, and Wheat-Egg-Dairy-Gluten-Yeast-free pancakes.

I thought getting this book would solve my lack of baked goods, but it's never that easy. The first baking trial of Blondies ended up dry (but not Biscotti dry) and smelling like dough. To be fair, the author stated she prefers certain ingredient brands over others, so we probably didn't have ingredients stellar enough to make a successful batch.

I don't post enough about where or in what form my work ends up. If you've been to Mercato Shopping mall recently, you might have seen this illustration as part of the Bullets & Butterflies promotional summer display.

Voluspa candles

They smell sublime. And when the wax is all gone, they'll make lovely containers.

Have I done this before?

They say it's hard to experience the same thing twice. Even if the circumstances are identical, the outcome will differ. This evening, however, I feel like I've been visited by a ghost of the past.

Bullets & Butterflies boutique

I'm working on adding all the work I've done for Bullets & Butterflies to my portfolio. In the mean time, I thought I'd share a few shots I took of the boutique when I last visited them.

... and men's hardware
The store just opened at Mercato shopping mall, bringing an eclectic selection from international and independent designers. A place like this was made for adventurous men and women; frontliners when it comes to trend setting, and original in their sartorial tastes.
There's a limited number to all items, so they're sure to add an unparalleled kick to one's ensemble, if not make an original gift to the person who has everything.
